Last year when a friend asked if anyone wanted to do a pirate-themed Pride shoot, I immediately said yes. It was my first time ever doing something openly for Pride, and introduced me to so many wonderful creatives.
What then felt like a fun little project amongst friends now feels like an important moment of resistance. With the queer and trans community under attack, it’s important for us to be loud in our queerness and refuse to let anyone erase us.
Long story short—be gay and do piracy. Happy Pride Month.
This was a volunteer photoshoot and everyone brought their own flag that they felt personally represented them. No flags or identities were intentionally excluded.
