When the girl did not to return to the village that night, the people made up stories that she had been eaten by a wolf—which, in a way, was true.
These self-portraits were part of a spur-of-the-moment photoshoot that I did last year. I was four months pregnant at the time and it was the first moment I’d felt a spark of creativity since finding out that I was expecting. I threw on my cloak and Curious Fair mask, rushed out to the wooded area across the street from my house, and spent an hour snapping away while the snow fell. It was magical, quiet, and healing, a reminder that I still had the ability to create art after months of no motivation during my first trimester.
